Updates for Design Applications
We are pleased to announce a Minor Version Release (MVR) for all design applications
(Stardraw AV 2007, AV Lite 2007, Audio 2007 and Lighting 2D 2007) that includes a number of fixes for reported issues
and improvements to existing functionality:
- Symbol text height. The height of some text in symbols was being reported incorrectly which
meant it could be difficult to change the height of text in symbols. This is now fixed with the added
advantage that changing the height of any text object, including cable labels, is now very reliable, robust
and sympathetic to the original text's position, baseline and alignment.
- User symbol document settings. When you create a new symbol by dragging a selection into the
Library List, the new symbol file now gets certain properties from the current document, i.e. grid size,
no. of snaps, text height, nudge values, snap. Snap to Grid defaults to ON, and Grid From Origin = TRUE.
This makes editing of user-defined symbols very much easier.
- Rounding to display precision. Previously, measurements such as Grid dimensions would round
to display precision e.g. in Block Schematics the grid would round from 2.5mm to .03m (if in Metres) or 0.1”
(if in inches) when Precision was set to 2 decimal places if you opened the Grid Properties sheet. This could
lead to symbols falling slightly off the grid, the effect becoming progressively worse with subsequent moves or
nudges. Internal precision is now persisted if no changes are made to a measurement, and entry precision
overrides display precision. This will mean that cases where objects seem to fall slightly off the grid are
eradicated.
- Default attributes. "Symbol_" attributes from the current document would not be added to symbols created
using Symbol Wizard until the symbol had been saved into the Library List and then inserted back into the document.
Now these default attributes are added to the symbol as it is created in the document.
- Arrange Document Boundary. As drawings grew in size you might find that you ran out of room and could not
pan or zoom out sufficently far until you used the Arrange Document Boundary command to resize the Boundary to fit the drawing. This was not
intuitive and zooming, panning and scrollbars now automatically compensate for drawing size.
- Paper Color. Selecting Options | Preferences | Paper Color could give strange results if the current fill
style was Open or Transparent, often leading to bizarre redraw effects. Paper Color now ignores Fill Style and
always gives a Solid color.
- Registry. If you were working under Vista or with a limited user account, you might see an error relating
to attempts to write to the registry. This has now been corrected.
Updates containing these new features are available now and can be installed by all users of the current 2007 version of their
Stardraw design/documentation application using LiveUpdate.

Symbols Updates
In July the following libraries were updated
in one or more of Stardraw's design/documentation
applications (Stardraw Audio 2007, Stardraw AV 2007 and Stardraw AV Lite 2007). Click
on a manufacturer name to see full details of that library, or click on a
link at the bottom of the page to update your application
with the latest symbols.
