Recent Updates to Stardraw Design 7
Since
our last newsletter the development team has been hard at work with the result that many enhancements
have been added to Stardraw Design 7 in the last few weeks.
- Paste To Current Layer - allows any selection to be pasted onto the current
layer, making it possible to 'combine' views, e.g. Front, Side and Rear views of
a rack in a single drawing, or combine different drawing types.

- Update to handle behavior. Symbols now have a new Property "Handle Behavior"
which determines what happens to the symbol when you drag a selection handle.
The default value is Move - the symbol will move as you move the handle - and
the option value is Resize - meaning that you can resize symbols individually.
- User-definable "Minimum printed line width" setting to ensure that lines,
particularly in light colors, do not appear too faint when output to
high-resolution printers. Access "Minimum printed line width" by choosing Tools
| Personalization | Settings. The factory default is 0.1mm and users can set any
value from 0 up, in mm or inches, to constrain the printer to print lines no
thinner than the defined value. Setting a value of 0 means that the printer is
not constrained and will print lines according to its own interpretation of the
drawing and its resolution capabilities. It is expected that most users will
choose values from 0.1 - 0.25 mm or .004 - .01 inches. Note that the setting
applies to the whole application.
- Proportional resizing. Hold down the Shift key when resizing an object to
maintain its proportions.
- Improved behavior when pasting from one document into another: pasted objects
will be positioned centrally in the drawing window.
- Fix to redraw issue when flipping Cable Arc objects using the Ctrl key.
- Fix to allow roundtrip of .S01 file export / import.
- Change to behavior when selecting many (more than 10) objects. Handles are not
displayed on individual objects and instead handles appear around the extents of
the selection, permitting very significant performance benefits especially when
selecting hundreds or thousands of objects.
- DWG export supports line thicknesses where possible.
- Plan View drawings retain user-defined measurement units.
- Fix to bug which might, in certain circumstances, cause an exception when
resizing symbols.

New Movies on our YouTube Channel
Check out the new tutorial and walkthrough videos on the Stardraw YouTube channel
(www.youtube.com/stardraw).
Movies are a great way to learn about Stardraw applications, allowing you to
gain knowledge on your own schedule and at your own pace.
New movies include an "Introduction to the Plan View Module" which covers use of
the Symbol Browser, use of the Cable Arc tool and defining your own custom Symbol Browser
folders and files when working on floor plan and reflected ceiling plan drawings.
Also new is a short movie on "Mixing Up Views", showing how you can display multiple
views, e.g. Front, Rear and Side views of a rack, in the same drawing and how to combine
different drawing types.

Symbols Updates
In October the following libraries were updated
in one or more of Stardraw's design/documentation
applications (Stardraw Design 7, Stardraw Audio 2007, Stardraw AV 2007 and Stardraw AV Lite 2007). Click
on a manufacturer name to see full details of that library.
