Net CAD wins coveted Pick Hits Award at NAB2004

VTG Audio and Stardraw are pleased to announce that Net CAD has won a Pick Hits award at NAB 2004. Net CAD is VTG Audio's new on-line custom panel design and ordering application that was commissioned from software providers, Stardraw.com, and went live at the recent NSCA show in Las Vegas.

Each year, readers of Broadcast Engineering select the most innovative and exciting products to come out of the NAB convention. Readers also form the panel of judges who are all professionals working the broadcast, post and network and satellite industries, and who remain anonymous throughout the judging process. The criteria are that products must be new and not shown at a previous NAB convention, and that they must have some positive impact on the intended user's everyday work and, critically, offer substantial improvement over previous technology.

Based on the Stardraw.net platform, Net CAD is delivered through the websites of VTG Audio's daughter companies Horizon Music and Rapco and works from within a browser so there is nothing to download or install in the conventional sense. It comprises a drag-and-drop interface linked to a complete library of all of Rapco's and Horizon Music's panel products so the user simply selects the panel he or she wants, drags on the connectors that are needed, and sets engraving, finishes, artwork and so on. Once the design is complete, a separate pop-up report delivers an instant quote. Furthermore, this system can support highly complex pricing models, e.g. setup charges, product charges, variable charges (such as engraving by character) and, most importantly, pricing by user profile; discounts may be set based on who the user is and the type of account he has.

VTG Audio's VP of sales and marketing, Darius Seabaugh, is delighted to receive a Pick Hits award. “As this is an award that is voted for by readers, and therefore users of this new technology, it represents clear proof that Net CAD works – even in the short time since its launch a month ago, it has clearly made a hugely positive impact on our customers, and has improved the way we all do business together. The fact that customers can now go online and design, price and order custom panels in seconds, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week without having to wait for any third party input has streamlined efficiency from both ends of the process, so everyone benefits. Furthermore, working with Stardraw has been a pleasure. They have delivered everything they said they would, to time and to budget. Even without the award, I was, and am, delighted at what we have achieved with Net CAD, but I must say I'm pleased to have achieved this level of recognition so quickly.”

Stardraw.com CEO David Snipp agrees. “This is undoubtedly the way of the future,” he stated. “While many people are talking about web services right now, few really understand their potential, and even fewer have delivered useful, working systems. Applications like Net CAD change all that because it is a public forum where people can see and experience the potential of such systems for themselves. In Stardraw.net, which powers Net CAD, we have fully customizable platform that can integrate with any other system via XML. Integration of information is the key to delivering tools that add real value and Net CAD is another great example of how we have created an elegant, efficient and cost effective solution for a forward-thinking client."

Net CAD can be accessed by registered dealers at the Horizon Music and Rapco websites
