September 2002 - Stardraw.com at PLASA 2002
Software provider Stardraw.com is set to have a
busy PLASA 2002. The big news is the launch of the worlds first
web-based CAD system. Stardraw.net is a tool that allows one
to design and document integrated systems through a browser using an
on-line library of over 30,000 industry-specific symbols.
Stardraw.net represents the introduction of web-based technology
that incorporates tools and data for all of the niche markets
addressed by Stardraw's conventional software packages. This means
that users can now customise their symbol sets drawing from any or
all of the above libraries according to individual requirements.
In addition to the new web-based application,
Stardraw.com will of course be demonstrating the conventional
"shrink-wrapped" off-the-shelf CAD design and documentation software
packages on which Stardraw.net is based. The range comprises Stardraw
Audio, Stardraw AV, Stardraw Lighting 2D and Stardraw Radio.
The applications are based on the same powerful
Stardraw engine that has been tailored to vertical market sectors to
create industry-specific packages at a fraction of the price of
traditional CAD solutions. The basic elements of each package include:
·
drag-and-drop design facility
·
powerful documentation system linked to MS Excel and based
on a series of customisable templates so that a single drawing can
generate bills of materials, pricing schedules, cable schedules and a
host of other useful data
·
full AutoCAD compatibility up to and including the
recently introduced AutoCAD 2002, with the ability to read, write and
edit DWG and DXF files.
·
comprehensive library of industry-specific symbols, all
generated to the same high quality standard
·
regular monthly updates of new symbols and program
features
·
advanced error reporting direct to the developers and
fixes posted within 48 hours
All of the packages are extremely quick and easy to
use which makes them a formidable sales tool: designs can be produced in
minutes rather than hours and modified just as quickly. The bulk of the
customisation for particular industry segments is in the symbols
provided with each package, and Stardraw.com is dedicated to keeping
these libraries up to date and conforming to standard. Whatever your
design and documentation needs, Stardraw has a high quality, versatile
and cost-effective package to suit.
