Feature per Month program

This month's new feature is Convert to Rack , a fantastically useful utility that will save you even more time.

Convert to Rack can be used in the Block Schematic and Pictorial Schematic environments.  It analyses the current drawing and assembles all of the rackmountable symbols it finds into a new drawing in the Rack Layout environment.  All you then have to do is move the products into racks as you see fit.  This utility brings the average time it takes to design a rack from a schematic down to under a minute and minimises the chance of error through omission or double-counting. 

To run the Convert to Rack utility in the Block or Pictorial Schematic environment just select Tools | Convert to Rack.

Notes on functionality:

• the utility analyses symbols in the schematic and only assembles rackmountable products into the Rack Layout drawing.  This means that the schematic symbol must have a corresponding Racks symbol.
• the utility compares schematic and rack symbols using the symbol's Long Name.  After the top level of the Long Name (i.e. "Blocks", "Pictorials" or "Racks") the Long Names of the schematic and rack symbols must be identical.
• this version of the utility ignores modules and other items which do not rackmount directly (i.e. items that must be placed in a subframe or other rackmounted housing)

Important Note:  the Feature per Month program is available only to current subscribers of Stardraw Audio and Stardraw AV.  If the machine you're currently working with has its Stardraw dongle in place, you can check your subscription status by clicking here.

News from Germany

Audio Network, Stardraw's Premier Partner in Germany, is now offering Stardraw Training at SRT - Schule fur Rundfundtechnik in Nurnberg.  Two introductory classes have already been held and courses included:

• Explanation of Stardraw's functions
• Simple drawing exercises
• Advanced drawing techniques
• Importing and handling other file formats
• Use of symbols
• Creating and editing symbols

Further classes are scheduled in 2001 and interested candidates should contact support@audio-network.com at Audio Network.

New AV Symbols Policy

Following last month's announcement we are pleased to deliver the first expanded AV update.  From this month forward, AV updates will include symbols for at least 250 new products every month.

This increase in symbols provision is brought to you at no extra cost. All current Stardraw AV subscribers can simply download the expanded updates as normal.
