Feature per Month program
This month's new feature is Error Reporting: a unique utility which is designed to
increase Stardraw's reliability and robustness.
In the course of normal operation, Stardraw might encounter a problem. This could
be bad data from an imported file, a bad device driver or an internal conflict. In these
situations most programs simply give up, crash and return an "Illegal Operation" message - not
very helpful.
Stardraw is different. With Error Reporting, a serious fault will cause the following
sequence of events:
-
A message will indicate that an error has occurred
|
-
Stardraw will look to see if an updated version of the program is available
(requires internet connection) and download it
|
-
If a newer program version is not available, a report is sent to the Stardraw
technical support department by e-mail
|
- The application you were working with will restart, loading any AutoSave files
of the documents that were open at the time of the error (if AutoSave was enabled)
The error report contains everything the technical support department needs to identify
exactly how and why the problem occurred AND FIX IT. This means that fixes can be
implemented without lengthy phone and e-mail conversations, saving you time and ensuring that
Stardraw continues to be the best, fastest and most reliable software for system
design and documentation.
Important Note: the Feature per Month program is
available only to current subscribers of Stardraw Audio, Stardraw AV
and Stardraw Lighting 2D. If the machine you're currently working with has its
Stardraw dongle in place, you can check your subscription status by
clicking here.
To renew a lapsed subscription, catch up on symbols updates and
qualify for the Feature per Month program please contact your
local Stardraw representative or e-mail sales@stardraw.com
As promised, new features will be added to Stardraw every month,
prioritised, wherever possible, by what you want. As far as we
know, Stardraw is the only application that can respond so quickly
to your requests. Please let us know what new features you
want by filling out our User Survey

"When Stardraw first approached me I had no plans to switch
industries," commented Morrison, "but once I saw the
potential in the technology and heard what the company had planned I
just had to get involved. This is a fantastically exciting
opportunity."
Managing director of Stardraw, David Snipp explained,
"David [Morrison]'s appointment is just part of our plan for
continued growth. We wanted to find someone who could add real value
for our existing channel partners, and who would also be able to
manage significant OEM relationships in our existing entertainment
markets and beyond. Going forward, David's experience in the broader
spectrum of the telecomms and networking industries will be
invaluable to our strategic plans for expansion." Snipp hinted
that Stardraw's position within the Audio, AV and Lighting
industries will be used as a springboard into larger markets. The
appointment of Morrison adds weight to this suggestion.
David Morrison operates out of Stardraw's London-based offices
and is currently responsible for EMEA and Pacific Rim channel
management and corporate OEM sales.
Press Release - Stardraw Links
into Italy
Industry software provider
Stardraw has announced the
appointment of Link srl as Premier Partner in Italy. The agreement
was struck at the IBTS 2001 show in Milan and takes effect from
October 8th.
David Morrison, sales manager for Stardraw explains, "We
were particularly happy to build a relationship with Link because
their profile and positioning is ideal for the current range of
Stardraw products. As the leading Italian supplier of cable,
connectors and connection solutions they have all the right contacts
in Audio, AV and Lighting. Everybody in systems integration needs
the 'glue' that Link supplies, and everybody in systems integration
needs Stardraw. It's a perfect fit."
From Link's point of view the match is equally good. Managing
Director Assunta Fratocchi adds, "Link has built its reputation
by observing and driving the technological evolution of equipment
used for system interconnection. We are now implementing a new,
long-term strategy to bring the best in software tools to our
clients. This means offering the right products, dedicated staff,
training and front line support. Of course, the Stardraw
applications had to be the first in our portfolio since they are so
particularly appropriate for all of the markets we service.
Historically the acceptance of software in the Italian market has
been slower than we might have hoped, but we have watched this
software grow in popularity internationally and the time is now
right for a concerted push into our domestic market."
Morrison continued, "With a market like Italy, product
localisation is important - Stardraw applications are already
available in English, French, German and Portuguese and one of our
first joint tasks will be to produce an Italian version. Thanks to
the advanced architecture we use, the translation can be done by
someone without any special software skills using any standard text
editor in just a couple of days, without changing a single line of
code in the Stardraw engine."
Link srl, based in Rome, was founded in 1987 and specialises in
the manufacture and supply of cable, connectors and connection
solutions. Further details can be found at www.linkitaly.com.
