Feature per Month program
This month's new feature is Distribute Evenly: this allows you to
position objects and symbols evenly, either horizontally or vertically. This month we also
bring you a bonus feature which allows you to set both horizontal and vertical nudge values
for any document or template.
You can get this important new feature at no cost if you have a
current subscription for your Stardraw product. Follow a link
to download this feature using Stardraw LiveUpdate.
Important Note: the Feature per Month program is
available only to current subscribers of Stardraw Audio, Stardraw AV,
Stardraw Lighting 2D and Stardraw Radio, and is delivered using LiveUpdate.

Stardraw Unveils Web-Enabled Technology
Software provider Stardraw chose InfoComm 02 to unveil
a new suite of design applications. While they follow the principles of the developer's established product
range, Stardraw AV, Stardraw Audio, Stardraw Lighting 2D etc, the new
applications are fully web-enabled and users simply hit a web page to use the
software within their Internet browser.
Stardraw MD David Snipp explains “Our conventional
applications have established the sorts of tools that integrators find easy to
use and valuable for system design and documentation. The web-enabled applications have been
written from the ground up to provide comparable functionality, but they are designed
to run within a web page. This is brand
new technology and Stardraw is, as far as we know, the first company anywhere
in the world to offer full CAD capability via the web.
It's a significant development and we're very excited about it.”
Where conventional software is shipped on CD and installed,
Stardraw's web-enabled applications are delivered through HTML pages,
using tools which download themselves as and
when they are needed. This means that all of the functionality, for
instance Cut, Copy, Paste commands or drawing
lines, is executed on the client side for speed, and symbols libraries, pricing
etc are stored in databases on the server.
An advantage of the client/server split is that even if your internet
connection is broken, you can still continue to work and save your files locally.
Snipp continued, “We are showing these new applications to
manufacturers and other corporate clients who are looking for flexible,
scalable, custom software solutions. The beauty of a centralised,
web-delivered application is that it's very easy to
maintain and update, and it can link to realtime data like pricing, stock
levels and special offers. Our first
custom web-based application, PanelBuilder, which went live on the RCI Custom
website last month has already been a huge hit.”

Stardraw teams up with ICIA and InfoComm iQ
In a move designed to enhance both businesses and add value for the end user,
leading design and documentation software specialists Stardraw.com have announced
a unique partnership with the premier audiovisual association, ICIA.

InfoComm iQ, developed, maintained and delivered by the International Communications
Industries Association, Inc.® (ICIA), is an industry-wide product information database
for the AV market which offers users instant access to the most up-to-the-minute product
information. ICIA takes raw data from manufacturers and re-authors it to be complete,
current and comparable. It is then distributed directly and through third party dealer websites.
By teaming up with Stardraw, with its own library of over 36,000 high quality symbols from
manufacturers, ICIA looks forward to making InfoComm iQ available to a wider audience.
Stardraw users will not only have access to the graphical representation of a product
for their systems engineering drawings, but also technical data which can then be embedded
directly into a tender document.
According to Stardraw.com managing director, David Snipp, the arrangement is the perfect
dovetailing of two totally complementary products to create an even more powerful industry tool.
"Along with our colleagues at ICIA we firmly believe that the sharing and dissemination of
information for mutual benefit is a good thing," he stated. "Our partnership with ICIA is
a great example of how co-operation within the industry adds value across the board, and more
importantly results in a better and more complete service for the customer. It's a win-win
situation for everybody."
