Stardraw Control Finalist in NSCA Awards
Please vote at booth 849, March 10-11

Stardraw.com's newest application, Stardraw Control, which is to be formally launched at the forthcoming NSCA show, has been selected as a finalist in the Control Products category of the NSCA Innovations in Technology Awards. Stardraw Control has already been honored with a PLASA Award for Innovation at its preview at London's PLASA show in September 04.

Stardraw's marketing director, Rob Robinson, explained the key features of Stardraw Control that set it apart from other control solutions. "Stardraw Control generates standalone, customized control programs that can manage any type of addressable equipment from any manufacturer using any protocol over any communications infrastructure. Instead of being locked into closed architectures wherever system control, monitoring or signal routing has been required, Stardraw Control offers systems integrators an open, software-based, unified control framework that can manage his entire system with a single application, regardless of system complexity. To our knowledge, no-one else offers such an innovative and flexible system, so to be selected as a finalist from over 120 entrants on the occasion of its official launch is a great honor. We are pleased that Stardraw Control's potential has been recognized in the context of technological innovation at NSCA."

Like other Stardraw applications it is fast, powerful, flexible and easy to use; with a drag-drop interface and intuitive design environment, installers are able to configure systems and control them without having to write a single line of code. Utilization of Microsoft.net technology means that control programs are portable and can run on any Windows device, from PC to PDA. Importantly, Stardraw Control can communicate with and control any device using any protocol. Since support of particular protocols can offer access to tens of thousands of products, Stardraw Control is infinitely flexible and scaleable. Protocols currently supported include TCP/IP, RS232, DMX, IR, EtherSound, CobraNET, infra-red, UDP, SNMP and QSC Net.

NSCA's Innovations in Technology awards are decided in a public vote by expo attendees. Please learn more about Stardraw Control by clicking on the link below, or download Stardraw Control Beta 2, and if you agree that it represents a new and truly innovative approach to system control, please visit NSCA's Innovations in Technology award pavilion - booth #849 - and vote for Stardraw Control.

Stardraw Control Beta 2 Available for Download

We are pleased to announce the public availability of the Beta 2 version of the award-winning application, Stardraw Control. During the Beta-test period, Stardraw is inviting manufacturers and systems specialists to become test partners in this exciting new project. In return, test partners are asked to provide as much detailed feedback as possible via the dedicated Stardraw Control forum that has been set up especially for this purpose.

New in Stardraw Control Beta 2:

  • Utilization of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
  • While Beta 1 used Microsoft .NET Framework 2 (Beta) no firm release date for the platform has been confirmed to date. To guarantee stability and the broadest support of operating systems, Stardraw Control Beta 2 uses Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, the latest release version of the .NET Framework.

  • Updated User Interface
  • A new touch and feel makes Beta 2 easier to use. In particular the Library List is categorized by manufacturer, device type and controlling protocol so you can choose how products are listed. Dragging a Category into the document now displays a dialog that allows you to select from products that meet the Category designation (e.g. EtherSound products by Fostex). Many other minor modifications have been made to improve functionality and stability.

  • Improved Editing in Panel View
  • Controls and their associated properties can now be cut, copied and pasted in the Panel View

Sample standalone control programStardraw Control generates standalone, customized control programs, offering a new approach to solving the problem of controlling heterogeneous systems; for too long, systems integrators have been locked into closed architectures wherever system control, monitoring or signal routing has been required. Stardraw Control, by contrast, offers a software-based, unified control framework that can manage any type of addressable equipment from any manufacturer over any communications infrastructure.

Stardraw Control can communicate with and control any device using any protocol including TCP/IP, RS232, DMX, IR, EtherSound etc

Stardraw Control's open architecture means that manufacturers can offer software control without the overhead of developing exclusive (and limited) software applications for individual products, and since Stardraw Control communicates with any existing device-specific Application Programming Interface (API), manufacturers can add support of their products without changing existing code or adding new hardware. For the duration of the Beta-testing, Stardraw.com will undertake all work required to add support for products at no cost to the manufacturer. All the manufacturer has to do is supply a loan unit of the appropriate device with supporting documentation and Stardraw.com will do the rest.

For systems integrators this open, unified approach means that a single application can control many diverse products with as much or as little complexity as the end user needs.

According to Stardraw.com CEO David Snipp, “With Stardraw Control we have developed an open system that is universally applicable. Manufacturers like it because it conforms to any standard or protocol they choose, and installers are excited because it breaks the constraints on product selection and application programming that you get with closed-architecture systems. This is a winner at every level.”

Stardraw Control supports QSC

QSC Audio Products Inc. is the latest of the growing list of manufacturers to be supported by Stardraw Control, the brand new system control application from specialist software providers, Stardraw.com.

Stardraw Control is a software-based solution designed expressly to control systems that contain diverse products. It generates standalone, customized control programs that can manage and monitor any type of addressable equipment from any manufacturer using any protocol over any communications infrastructure. This approach frees systems integrators from closed or proprietary architectures and applications, offering instead the ability to create a single application that can control many different products with as much or as little complexity as the end user needs.

QSControl.net, QSC's next generation network audio system platform, is just one of the many protocols supported within Stardraw Control. QSControl.net brings together QSC's power amplification and loudspeaker products into a unified system. Currently for QSC this means that all BASIS and RAVE network audio packages are supported within Stardraw control. The BASIS units combine three distinct QSC technologies within a single RU hardware package: system monitoring and control, configurable DSP, and CobraNet™ audio transport. The next generation RAVE 522aa combines configurable DSP with CobraNet™ audio transport, bringing a new level of performance to QSC's industry-standard RAVE technology.

Tim Van Grove, Digital Systems Strategist for QSC Audio is pleased to have QSC's network audio products supported by Stardraw Control. "Total system control via a single application that is both easy to configure and operate, as Stardraw Control demonstrably is, has to be the way forward for systems integrators," said Van Grove. "Furthermore, from a manufacturer's point of view, it has the advantage of facilitating access to our products, so everyone benefits. It's definitely a winning solution, and the more manufacturers who support and are supported by Stardraw Control, the better it is for everybody."

QSC is the latest addition to a quickly growing list of supported manufacturers that includes Artistic Licence, Audace, AuviTran, Aurora Multimedia, Digigram, DKT Group, Dynalite, Global Caché, IMerge, NetCira, Pathway, Smart-AVI and Toshiba
