Stardraw Control - More Enhancements
Stardraw Control, launched in November, has been developed to create
customized user interfaces that can control any product from any
manufacturer over any protocol including TCP/IP, Infra-Red, RS232, DMX, UDP, EtherSound and CobraNet. The interfaces you create
are compiled to a single .exe file that can be deployed and run on
any windows device, from touchscreen to TabletPC to PC,
while support for multiple interface devices (that offer, for
example, TCP/IP to IR, RS232 to IR, TCP/IP to RS232 etc) allows
users to select from a wide range of components to create an
integrated control system. This means that control systems can
be more flexible and cost-effective than ever before.
In the few short weeks since its launch, Stardraw Control has
already been augmented with feature enhancements and new drivers to
support specific manufacturers' products. Ongoing improvement
and the seamless delivery of enhancements is a key component in the
application's design: updates are identified and installed in the
background as soon as Stardraw Control starts up.
New items delivered since launch include the following:
- In the Forms view, any action can take a Condition that
compares one variable or value to another and proceeds
accordingly. Conditions include 'is less than', 'is greater
than', 'is equal to', 'is not equal to' and these allow you to
define system functionality that is dependent on system or UI
states.
- Enhancements for management of IR codes
- New drivers for products from Calypso Control Systems, Denon,
Harman Kardon, LAVA, Mode Lighting, Rane and Xantech.

New for Design Applications - Enhanced Default
Line Width
Prior to the introduction of this feature, the default line width (also known as default pen
width) was 0. This meant that lines would display and print as
finely as possible, based on the display device or printer in use. As
printers have advanced to offer greater and greater resolutions, 1200dpi not
being uncommon, it became apparent that lines would print more finely than would
perhaps be optimal for real-world use. For example, a line width of 0 on a
1200dpi printer would print out with a width of 1/1200", or 0.02mm, which,
particularly for light-colored lines, often appeared too faintly.
The enhanced default line width feature allows you to specify a width that
will be applied to any line in the document whose width value is displayed as
'0'. Stardraw's default templates have been updated to include optimal default
settings so that lines print more boldly.
The default line width is defined in the document using an attribute.
To change the default line width, doubleclick anywhere on the document to
display the Document Properties Sheet (or rightclick and select Document), then
go to the Attributes tab. Scroll down the list of document attributes and select
"_DefaultPenWidth" which is of type "Numeric". The unit for this
attribute's value is 0.1mm so to specify a default line width of 1mm enter the
value 10.
