Stardraw Control - New Features & Drivers
Client / Server Deployment - Stardraw Control now supports
the generation of separate Client and Server executables. This
allows for great flexibility in system deployment and also overcomes
several hurdles faced by control system designers. For example, in
situations where a device is controlled via RS232, or only supports
the opening of one TCP socket at a time, only one controller can
communicate with that device at any one time. However, by using a
Client / Server implementation, the Server application can
communicate directly with the device while Client applications can
communicate with the Server. In this way the Server application can
reliably and robustly manage and relay control data from and to,
potentially,
hundreds of clients.
The standalone Client executable contains all the elements required
for the Graphical User Interface and communication with the Server.
The Server application contains all system control logic, protocols,
drivers and system variables, and communicates directly with the
controllable devices in the system. It supports Web Services and can
communicate with the client using HTTP and TCP as transport
protocols, with Binary or SOAP/XML formatting.
An additional benefit of the Client/Server model is that third
parties can choose to create their own client applications written
in any language to run on any interface device on any platform.
For
example, you could write an application in JAVA designed to run on a TouchPanel running Windows CE and this application could then
control any device via a Stardraw Control Server Application.
MIDI Support - full support for the MIDI protocol has now
been added to Stardraw Control. This means that a control program
can catch any event generated from a MIDI device, or issue any MIDI
command to any MIDI device.
New drivers - full support for the following products has
recently been added to Stardraw control by virtue of specific
drivers that access device functions through Serial and Ethernet
ports
- Lutron RadioRA Home Dimming.
more
- Aprilaire 8870 Communicating Thermostat.
more
- Hitachi Cp-X275 Projector.
- Sanyo PLC-XU47 Projector.
- Vision PM-4230 Plasma screen.
- Denon AVR 3805 (updated).
more
- Russound rnet Protocol, CAV6.6 driver.
more
- Dtrovision DS-1818M.
more
- Dynalite DDCM801.
more
- NigelB Design Plus Series Amplifiers.

- Shturman D12SS20 Super Dimmer.

Stardraw Control finds synergy with 3Touch

"Liberty" Intelligent Lectern
We are pleased to announce that presentation hardware and solutions specialists, 3Touch Ltd. have standardized on Stardraw Control to create their own custom user interface, FlightDeck, through which all of 3Touch's hardware components are controlled.
3Touch is an innovative company that develops client-server-based presentation solutions designed to create a secure, fail-safe presentation environment. In addition to a number of meeting room and classroom productivity tools, products include a range of intelligent lecterns which incorporate a powerful PC and a sophisticated media distribution system offering room control (lighting, projector, screen etc.) and multi-room networking capabilities. The user interface through which all of this functionality is controlled is called FlightDeck and is created using Stardraw Control.
"The alliance between Stardraw and 3Touch is a unique fit because it adds a significant new dimension to the 3Touch product offering," noted Eamonn Roarke, 3Touch founder and director of product development. "3Touch currently offers a unique media distribution system which manages all of your presentation files centrally and allows you to control this content from any location globally. We are using Stardraw technology, in particular Stardraw Control, as the system to control all of the back-end hardware components. 3Touch FlightDeck, the front-end control application created using Stardraw Control, allows dynamic real-time control over any piece of hardware, and is, to our knowledge, the first fully integrated system to be launched on the market."

FlightDeck user interface, created using Stardraw Control
According to Stardraw CEO, David Snipp, 3Touch FlightDeck is a perfect example of how Stardraw Control can both add value to a manufacturer's product range, or indeed a system contractor's project, and save huge amounts of time and money at the same time. "Our philosophy of open standards and open architecture that can control equipment from any manufacturer over any protocol, is infinitely flexible. We have also designed the application to be totally customizable so that we remain invisible in the process," he commented. "In creating their own application with its own look and feel to control their hardware, 3Touch have demonstrated a perfect understanding of how Stardraw Control can be used to enhance their own business activity, which is precisely what we had in mind when we developed the software."
Eamonn Roarke agrees. "3Touch's mission is to make presenting simple; the systems we provide are all based on the premise that it should take no more than three touches to execute any command. By standardizing each and every component worldwide it means that if you use a 3Touch system in Europe,
Asia or in the USA, the control surface will be universal thus taking the complexity out of presenting. Convergence is our aim and this is the first truly
convergent technology suite available in the marketplace"
