If you're attending the world's
#1 event for AV professionals, be sure to stop by our booth 3824 to meet the Stardraw team and catch up with all
of the recent developments.
We'll also be making a very important announcement on Wednesday. It's coming...
Stardraw Libraries Pass 600 Manufacturer Milestone
We've reached a significant
milestone for the Symbols Libraries that support our design applications, Stardraw Audio, Stardraw AV etc, which now number
over 600 manufacturers in total and a staggering 54,000 symbols.
The Symbols Libraries have been under continual development since their inauguration almost
two decades ago in 1992. Representing over fifty man years of work, each symbol is painstakingly drawn by
in-house professional CAD draughtsmen to create the highest quality, most comprehensive libraries available
anywhere. Stardraw.com guarantees no duplicates and a consistent qualitative standard throughout.
Since the very beginning, this invaluable service has been provided free of charge to manufacturers —
all they have to do is provide the relevant product information in the form of 2D DWG or DXF drawing files,
and Stardraw.com will do the rest. Symbols are prioritized on the basis of user requests from registered
users holding a current subscription via Stardraw.com's online Symbols Request service. All that is required
are the manufacturer details and the model number of the product required, and — as for the
manufacturers — Stardraw.com will do the rest.
Symbol updates are published almost daily, so registered users may synchronize their libraries whenever
they wish. Users with a current subscription to Stardraw Audio and Stardraw AV have access to Online Libraries
so any new symbol is available to them immediately, without prior download.
"The Symbols Libraries are a core activity for us at Stardraw, and key to the intrinsic value of our
Design products," noted marketing director Rob Robinson. "In addition to being the only software provider
who offers such a comprehensive symbols service, we can guarantee that our libraries are the most up-to-date
and relevant on the market because they are entirely user-led, hence market-driven. We do get the odd request
from people who haven't entirely thought things through — a request for "ALL Sony products" springs to
mind - but by and large our users are incredibly helpful and allow us to provide an excellent — and
unique — service."
Stardraw Delivers Diverse Device Drivers
We're proud to confirm
the unequivocal success of the Driver Request Forum, a free service to all registered
Stardraw Control users.
Stardraw Control 2010 is the multi award-winning, software-based universal control platform designed to
create custom user interfaces that can control any remotely-controlled or monitored hardware over any protocol.
Its open-architecture approach enables you to employ off-the-shelf hardware as core components of your control
system and extend functionality almost without limitation whilst minimizing costs.
In order to communicate with third party hardware, device drivers are required and new drivers are needed
for new or previously unsupported products. Stardraw Control includes a number of tools including a Driver
Wizard to help people to write their own drivers, but in situations where users don't have the time, skills
or inclination to create their own, Stardraw.com offers the Driver Request Forum.
This unique service, available to all registered Stardraw Control Users, undertakes to create any custom
device driver within 30 days, free of charge, regardless of its complexity.
"We introduced this service about eighteen months ago," notes Stardraw.com marketing director Rob Robinson.
"I am delighted to say that since then, we have delivered every single driver that has been requested with the
majority being published well within a week, let alone 30 days! The Driver Request service is clearly a win-win
because our users get what they need quickly and at no additional cost, and it adds value to Stardraw Control
as a product: as soon as a driver is published, it is available to all users immediately."
Further Integration with IT Devices for Stardraw Control
We're pleased to
announced a further level of integration with IT devices for the multi award-winning control platform, Stardraw
Control 2010; support for System Events
The control system can react to anything that is recognized as a System Event on the host PC, such as 'Resume from
Standby', 'Virtual Memory Low', 'Email Received', 'Network Cable Unplugged', 'Logon', 'Shutdown', etc. The control
software can be programmed to instigate any other action such as send an alert or perform any device function when
any particular system event is detected.
"What this means is that the control system can be fully aware of the PC device that it's running on and any
processes that might be running in the background," says Stardraw.com marketing director Rob Robinson. "Like so
many features that have been added to Stardraw Control over the years, this functionality has been requested by
users in the field. Clearly there's great interest in exploiting and fully integrating with IT infrastructure
when deploying audio visual and other control systems."
