Modules
Stardraw Design 7's drawing Modules are graphical environments, each of which makes it easy to
create a certain type of drawing. Each module features a specific layer structure, optimized document
settings, drawing/viewing tools, and each accesses a specific type of product symbol to make it quicker
and easier than ever before to create professional system drawings and product layouts.
All drawing Modules share the following core functionality.
- Full-featured vector drawing tools including Line, Rectangle, Ellipse/Circle/Arc, Text, Dimension - draw
anything in Stardraw Design 7.
- Drawing/editing modifiers including Snap to Grid, Snap to Path, Orthogonal Lock.
- Unlimited layers with Display and Lock states.
- Product Browser for adding product symbols.
- Create User Defined Products.
- Symbol editing.
- Context-sensitive Properties Grid for defining object styles, Attribute values and document settings.
- 'Arrange' tools to Align, Distribute, Order and Mirror objects.
- Symbols Palette for efficiently managing product additions made in other views.
- Insert Picture tool supporting BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, ICO, WMF and EMF formats.
- Import from and export to Stardraw 2007 (.S01) format files.
- Export drawing to Acrobat(PDF), BMP, JPG, GIF, PNG, TIFF, Visio and WMF formats.
Stardraw Design 7's configurable, modular structure allows you to select as many or as few Modules
as you need, and you can bolt on additional Modules at any time.

Block Schematic Module
For creating system schematics showing interconnections and engineering detail.
Symbols |
Stylised and focussed on product inputs and outputs,
Block Schematic symbols are designed to be technically
accurate showing all IOs, labelled as per the real-world
product.
|
Layers |
Default layers for circuit paths, including Audio,
Video, Control, Power and Lighting, plus user-definable layers.
|
Features |
- Drag/drop to position products and show connections.
- Powerful, multi-function Cable tool for showing system interconnections.
- Rubber-Banding to keep cables connected to symbols as you move them.
- Smart connections and auto-reconnect to reduce drawing time while editing.
- Cable Labelling and comprehensive Attribute features.
- Show/hide discrete circuit path layers.

Rack Layout Module
Create 19" rack layouts for 'build-as' and presentation purposes.
Symbols |
Highly detailed and accurate, 1:1 scale, line art symbols of front, rear and
side (depth only) views of products, including front panel controls and
rear panel connectors.*
|
Layers |
Default layers for front high
and low detail, rear high and low detail, side view and side
view clearances.
|
Features |
- Simple drag/drop to produce rack layouts with front,
side and rear views.
- Document grid of 1" across and 1RU high for ease of
positioning and spacing of products to allow for
ventilation etc.
- Symbols at 1:1 scale - show dimensions directly on
drawing.
- Side view clearances on product symbols, showing
recommended allowance for longest connector plus safe
bend radius of cable.
* Where manufacturer has made detailed product data available; if manufacturer
data is unavailable, symbol may show manufacturer name and model number only.

Panel Layout Module
For designing custom connection and control panels.
Symbols |
Panel Layout symbols are of connectors, rackmount blank panels and standard electrical panels.
Connector symbols are highly detailed line art at 1:1 scale showing front and rear details including pinouts, plus
cutout details for panel manufacture.
|
Layers |
Default layers for front, rear, metalwork (cutout and engraving)
and clearance views.
|
Features |
- Drag/drop design of custom panels.
- Paste Array and Distribute tools to make it easy to
lay out multiple connectors.
- Front, Rear and Metalwork views.
- Symbols at 1:1 scale - show dimensions directly on
drawing.
- Easy to set custom engraving by connector.
- Panel and Connector clearance indicators to ensure
optimized panel layouts.

Pictorial Schematic Module
For creating single-line drawings for presentation purposes.
Symbols |
Highly detailed front and rear views.* Not at
1:1 scale; symbols are designed for presentation, not
construction drawings.
|
Layers |
Default layers for front and rear views, and circuit
paths including Audio, Video, Lighting, Power and Control.
|
Features |
- Drag/drop presentation design.
- Flexible Cable tool for single-line connections
showing design intent, rather than engineering detail.
* Where manufacturer has made detailed product data available; if manufacturer
data is unavailable, symbol may show manufacturer name and model number only.

Plan View Module
For working with floor- and reflected ceiling plan drawings, usually by taking a third-party AutoCAD (DWG)
file as your starting point.
Symbols |
- Basic symbols for showing product locations
- Symbol Browser allows you to choose your own S01, DWG, DXF or image files, including
JPG, GIF and PNG, for use as symbols.
|
Layers |
- Supports layer structure imported from DWG.
- Symbols are located on current (working) layer.
|
Features |
- General-purpose CAD interface.
- Exploits enhanced DWG compatibility to facilitate communication with
Architects, Consultants and others that demand AutoCAD submissions.
- Flexible symbol browser allows use of different file types, including DWG and image formats, as symbols;
define multiple folder locations for custom symbols.
