Released in June 2018, Stardraw Design 7.3 enjoys constant maintenance and enhancement. Here are the key items added and updated since ISE 2019.
New Features
Larger SDF capacity : Increased supported filesize for .SDF (product database) files; the upper size limit of SDF files is increased from 2GB to 4GB.
DWG Arcs : Importing DWG files now supports Arcs with a Sweep Angle of 0 degrees (arguably an invalid object).
Robust UDP handling : Update to the way User Defined Products are treated so that handling of symbols, when dragging in from the Product Browser, is more robust if the UDP symbol file is idiosyncratic.
Relative XREFs : Added support for relative references, ./, ../ etc. when importing DWGs that use external references.
PDF Image Formats : Improvements to the handling of images when importing PDF files.
Robust DWG Text : Import of DWG files now ignores zero-height text which would previously throw the error; "Value of 0 is not valid for emSize".
Timing of Licensing Checks : An update to the timing and sequence in which licensing is checked on application startup when Stardraw Design 7.3 is invoked by Shell Open (i.e. doubleclicking on a .S07 file). Previously if the project file was very small and/or loaded very quickly, AND the actions by which the application goes online, signs in the user and checks the user's license were slow, a 'race condition' might ensue meaning that the project loaded before the license, and this could result in missing drawing tabs. This fix now ensures that license details are always loaded before the project is rendered in every case.
Start Page Cross-Browser Compatibility : Start Page now loads and displays all parts of the Stardraw.com Website correctly.
Symbols under Ortho : Orthogonal Lock is temporarily disabled when dragging from the Symbol Browser into a drawing. This behavior is now the same as when dragging in from the Product Browser and avoids unpredictable placement of symbols when brought in from the Symbol Browser when Orthogonal Lock is active.
Chinese Windows : Sizing of the dialog for Tools | Personalization | Library Directories has been modified to resolve a display issue when running under Chinese Windows.
Performance when loading 100s of Drawings : Improved performance when loading project files with a very large number of drawing tabs (i.e. many dozens, or hundreds of drawing tabs). Projects with very many drawings now load very much more quickly, and the possible occurrence of rare instances of issues during loading, which might in be caused by background activities on other threads, has been prevented.
Profile Display : Help | About Stardraw Design 7.3 now shows your Profile name which should assist users who share licenses between users with different Windows Profiles to identify which license is in use where.
Enhancements
Synch : Removing ALL selected manufacturers, then synchronizing with no manufacturers selected, and then re-selecting the manufacturers that had been removed would cause the future synchronization of those manufacturers to fail.
DWG Export : Export to DWG function could fail if the Stardraw Design 7 drawing contained fonts that are not supported by AutoCAD, e.g. non-TrueType fonts like OTF for which a corresponding SHX file is not available. Unsupported fonts are now converted to Arial as part of the export process.
DWG Export : Improvement to the handling of errors encountered when exporting to DWG.
Order under Unlock : Fixed the crashing bug which might occur when, with the Unlock Cursor selected, one attempted to change the Order (Move to Front, Move to Back etc) of one or more components in a hierarchical collection e.g. a symbol.
Cable Label Offsets : Fixed the issue in which Cable Label Offset values might be set incorrectly when using the Reverse Cable command on a selection that contains multiple Cable objects. Also enforces the integrity of Undo / Redo for such actions.
DWG Export : Objects exported to DWG retain their translation/rotation/scaling/mirroring effects even when those objects have undergone multiple transformations in deep hierarchies, like groups of symbols that themselves contain groups, etc.
Bridge Scaling on Export : Fixed issue that may cause incorrect scaling of Cable Bridge arcs when exporting to DWG.
Timing of Licensing Checks : Fixed issue where, when running on an unlicensed computer, if the startup About dialog was closed before the Licensing dialog had been displayed, an exception would be thrown and an error report generated.
DWG Export : A fix to make export to DWG more robust in cases where a bad record in a project file might previously have caused the error "eInvalidInput" when exporting a drawing to DWG.
Arrowkeys : Fixed a bug in which certain drawing tools e.g. Line, Rectangle, could cause arrowkey functionality to become 'stuck' in scroll mode, rather than moving the selected object up/down/left/right, and also prevented the Escape key from returning the cursor to its default Selection mode; this manifested as inconsistent behavior of the arrow keys in particular when drawing new objects (except Cables). The fix should ensure consistent behavior of arrow and Escape keys in all drawing and editing modes.
Nudge under Unlock : Corrected arrow key nudge behavior when using the Unlock Cursor; nudge with Unlock Cursor active now moves the selection 1 gridpoint instead of 2 gridpoints.
Drawing Thumbnails : Fixes a regression that might prevent the Drawings view from updating the Current Drawings area with accurate thumbnails and descriptions of drawings that have been added to the project in the current session.
