Product Requests

The addition of new products into the Stardraw Design 7.4 Library is governed and prioritized by users' Product Requests.

Please read carefully the following terms, conditions and guidelines for Product Requests.

Product Request Terms & Conditions

  • Product Requests can be made by licensed users of Stardraw Design 7.4 who hold a current Subscription.
  • Product Requests must be made via the Product Requests portal and to make a request you must be signed in to the Stardraw.com website using the account to which your license is registered.
  • A Product Request must be for a single product identified by Model Number or equivalent unique identifier.
  • Product Requests may be deemed ineligible if they fail to identify a single product. Reasons for Product Request ineligibity include, but are not limited to, the following:
    • The Product Request does not identify a recognizable product.
    • The Product Request identifies multiple products e.g. the members of a family, class or series of products, or the entirety of a manufacturer's range.
  • The generation of new product data for the Stardraw Design 7.4 library is prioritized according to Product Requests. Only products that have been requested by licensed users will be added to the Stardraw Design 7.4 library.
  • Users may vote for other users' Product Requests. Requests with more votes have higher priority than those with fewer or no votes.
  • While we undertake to satisfy all eligible Product Requests, we cannot guarantee that a Request will lead to the publication of product data to the library.
  • We cannot predict the turnaround time for any particular Product Request.
  • Product Requests may be submitted up to the limit of the Product Request Allowance.
  • The Product Request Allowance is the total number of your Product Requests that can be active within the Product Request system at any one time and is calculated as (the number of manufacturer libraries available to your account)/2. Examples are shown below.

Product Request Process and Guidelines

  • To make a Product Request sign in to the Stardraw.com website and go to the Product Requests portal.
  • The Product Request portal shows your outstanding and published Product Requests and the status of your Product Request Allowance. It allows you to Add a Request and also upvote other users' outstanding requests in cases where you are requesting a product that has already been requested.
  • Click Add Request and identify the product by Manufacturer, Model Number and Description. Manufacturer names and Model Numbers that already exist in the Stardraw Library can be selected to speed up the request process.
  • When you are satisfied with the identification of the product click on Confirm to submit your Product Request. At this point your new Product Request is active and will count against your Product Request Allowance.
  • Your new Product Request will appear in your list of Requested Products and will initially show the status code "U" - Unknown. This status persists until your Product Request is reviewed at which time a new status will be assigned.
  • Your Product Request must uniquely identify a recognizable product that is in production. Requests for unidentifiable products, obsolete products or a request for multiple products, e.g. a class, series or family of products, may be Excluded on the grounds of ineligibility. In these cases the status code "X" - Excluded will be assigned and no further work will be undertaken on the Product Request. Note that Excluded Product Requests will count against your Product Request Allowance until you delete them.
  • After review, successful Product Requests will be be assigned the status code "A" - Approved: we have begun the process of gathering information for the product you have requested.
  • If the process of gathering information fails to produce sufficient data to generate symbols for the Requested Product, the Product Request will be assigned the status code "B" - Stalled: we have been unable to make contact with the manufacturer, or the manufacturer is unwilling or unable to supply the required information.
  • We are unable to progress Product Requests with status code "B" - Stalled. For such Requests we recommend that you contact the manufacturer or their representative to ask them to assist in providing the information that you, their customer, need. Information from the manufacturer should be emailed to symbols@stardraw.com
  • Product Requests with the status code "B" - Stalled will count against your Product Request Allowance until:
    • you delete them, or
    • adequate information is received from the manufacturer to progress generation of the product data at which time the status code "A" - Approved will be set.
  • Once sufficient information has been gathered, the product data will be generated as quickly as possible and published. To ensure a swift response to Product Requests:
    • Block Schematic symbols show technically accurate inputs and outputs
    • Plan View symbols, if required, conform to the J-STD-710 standard
    • Other symbols are based on generic representations of the product type
    • Generic symbols may be replaced with 'manufacturer-specific' symbols at a later date, but publication of the Requested Product is not delayed for the purposes of specific representations
  • Within 24 hours of publication you will be notified by email that your Requested Product has been published. Your Product Request will move to the Published area of the Product Request portal and will no longer count against your Product Request Allowance.
  • Published Product Requests automatically synchronize to your computer when Stardraw Design 7.4 starts.
